Our new colleagues will provide a wide range of estate planning and tax advice ranging from basic planning to the design, drafting and implementation of complex wills and trusts, family partnerships and family limited liability companies, and other sophisticated planning techniques. Mr. Poe, as a former litigation attorney for the District Counsel’s Office of the Internal Revenue Service, has extensive experience in litigating civil and criminal tax disputes and the new group will continue to work on all types of tax litigation, including income tax audit challenges, innocent spouse claims and related litigation, estate tax controversies, responsible person litigation, civil and criminal structuring cases and criminal income tax fraud and evasion charges.
In the area of business advice, the new group will enhance the firm’s ability to provide tax counseling relating to choice of entity and formation, transactional structuring, compensation issues, and related matters. The new group will significantly complement the firm’s extensive practice areas in guiding clients regarding asset preservation and protection, providing valuable advice about personal liability and the implementation of asset protection techniques and the firm’s regular representation of clients in the administration of estates and trust and in litigating contested estate and trust matters.
