Amos Gern and Ana Rita Ferreira settled a medical malpractice suit for $500,000 for a 49-year old registered nurse from Union, NJ following private mediation.

January, 2025 – Our client underwent multiple operations to correct a pre-existing congenital right hip dysplasia from which she suffered following negligent surgery by her South Orange orthopedist beginning in June 2019. As a result of the initial errors by the defendant doctor, he suggested a second surgery a year later which again failed to correct his malpractice. Finally, another hip specialist performed a revision surgery in June 2021, which enabled our RN client to return to employment, although now at a reduced schedule for less days per week. As a result our client claimed a past loss of income of over $250,000, plus likely work-life future income losses of over $500,000, due to her inability to work at the same level she had before the negligent surgeries. Our client was disabled, and in continuous pain from 2019 to mid-2022, and still has permanent limitations to this day. The case was scheduled for trial in Essex County in February 2025, but a private mediation with a retired judge recently resolved the matter.
