May, 2022 – Our 48-year old long-time bus driver required a left shoulder arthroscopy with rotator cuff repair, subacromial decompression, comprehensive bursectomy, acromioplasty and distal clavicle excision. Further she sustained cervical disk herniations at C2-C3, C3-C4, C4-C5, C5-C6, and C6-C7, each impressing on the spinal cord, diagnosed on several MRI studies authorized by her workers compensation carrier. Although her spinal injuries were found to be non-surgical by a pain management specialist, she did undergo an epidural spinal injection. An orthopedic spinal consultant hired by this office, recommended a future anterior cervical discectomy at C3-4 and C4-5, at an estimated $100,000 cost. An $82,000+ workers compensation lien for medical bills and temporary disability benefits was also claimed. Over $54,000 of this lien had to be repaid to the compensation insurance company from settlement proceeds. A subsequent accident with a private/personal car, in 2021, was also later settled for that vehicle’s maximum coverage of $15,000.
