SGD&R is a State leader in personal injury matters. We represent seriously injured persons and the estates of injury victims in cases involving negligence in the use of motor vehicles, improper premises maintenance, defectively designed and manufactured products, and catastrophic work site injuries. Such cases are usually undertaken on a contingent fee basis. The firm carefully reviews prospective matters before agreeing to provide representation.

In motor vehicle claims, clients are guided through the maze of insurance claims, uninsured motorist, and personal injury protection ("P.I.P.") procedures. In most personal injury cases, clients' claims will be pursued initially through insurance adjusters in pursuit of an efficient resolution and payment, rather than immediately plunging into often unnecessary and always time consuming court proceedings.  However, if litigation is necessary, it is pursued promptly and aggressively.

The chair of the personal injury practice is a former federal prosecutor and is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a civil trial attorney. Referral fees are divided in accordance with the Rules of Court of the New Jersey Supreme Court for certified trial attorneys.

Recent personal injury successes include:

• $1.45 million - Settlement in a construction site accident case involving OSHA violations and other negligent work-safety procedures;
• $1.1 million - Settlement of elevator accident, negligent design and maintenance.
• $835,000 - Settlement in automobile negligence action and underinsurance claim.
• $550,000 - Settlement, inadequate security at university campus, sexual assault.
